During the summer of 2021 I had an opportunity to work as a summer intern at the James Hutton Institute in Dundee, U.K. In this role I worked on understanding how genotypic changes in barley palnts affect thier phenotypes such as hight , leaf shapes , seeding capacity, etc.

For this I was tasked with growing and maintaining a batch of wild type and mutated barley plants and also comparing their characteristic changes as a result of mutations.

We successfully were able to demonstrate the differences in phenotypic characteristics in the plants as a result of changes in genotype. These findings were significant as they demonstrated how small mutations impact overall crop development.

This experience helped me grow my lab knowledge and gain a lot of experience and skills which have been critical in developing my interest in the field of R and D.
